LAKE LURE ANGLER DIARY PROGRAM

An angler diary program has been instated for fishermen on Lake Lure. Anglers can play a very important role in fisheries management. With your help we will be able to better understand the dynamics of fish populations in Lake Lure. Please download and print out a Lake Lure Angler Diary Results Form for each fishing trip undertaken. Each trip should be recorded even if no fish are caught. It is just as important for us to know when fish are not caught as it is to know when they are caught.

Please fill out the information with the following instructions in mind:

Name, address, and phone number – This information is voluntary, but it would be appreciated.

Date – Enter the date for each trip.

Time spent fishing – Enter the time to the nearest five minutes of when your fishing trip began and when it ended. Please remember to indicate AM or PM.

Number of anglers - Enter the number of people you are recording information for on that particular trip in your diary. If two or more people are fishing who have diaries, either have each person record his own catch in their diary or record the whole catch in one diary. Don't do both because it will affect the results.

Type of fishing – Indicate whether fishing took place from a boat or the shore.

Fish species sought - Enter the type(s) of fish you are fishing for on this date (see key at bottom of the results form for abbreviations).

Fish caught - Please accurately record information for all fish caught on this date (one fish per row of boxes). Enter the type of fish (see key at the bottom of the results form for abbreviations). Note if the fish is kept or released. If possible, record the length and weight of the fish.

Comments   Your comments are important to us. In particular, please try to specify weather conditions, gear used, the general location in the lake that fish were caught, the type of area that they were caught in (such as open water, weed cover, woody debris, or rocky shoreline), if the fish possessed any physical abnormalities, and any other information you find appropriate.
