Police Opportunities

The Lake Lure Police Department provides a quality work environment, and professional development for its officers through effective training, leadership and career development. Being in a close proximity to the western campus of the North Carolina Justice Academy tremendously enhances the availability and quality of training opportunities. The Lake Lure Police Department provides officers the opportunity to diversify their skills such as Criminal Investigations, vice/narcotics, traffic enforcement, beach and lake patrol, special events, crime prevention, special operations, administration and more.

Generally, the police officer application process consists of the following:

- Submit Employment Application

- Agility Test

- Written Examination

- Oral Interview

- Medical Examination

All police officers must complete basic law enforcement training as mandated by the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. Upon completion of the basic law enforcement course, officers will work with a field training officer. All new officers must complete a twelve (12) month probationary period.
