The Town of Lake Lure’s Wastwater Department is responsible for the wastewater system. The responsibility in managing the wastewater system is to ensure that the wastewater produced by the Town of Lake Lure is properly treated according to state and federal requirements. The utilities department is responsible for taking test samples daily of wastewater at various locations. These samples are laboratory tested by the department and also sends test samples to an outside lab for analysis. The utilities department also prepares reports and filings for various regulatory agencies.
