Boating Safety Classes

The North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission (NCWRC) will be offering boating safety classes throughout the summer. Many states have gone to requiring a boat operator's license.   North Carolina currently requires personal watercraft operators to be licensed, and it is expected that a boat operator's license for the use of all motorized watercraft may be coming in the future. Those who attend and pass the boating safety class will receive a boating safety certificate, which may or may not expedite obtaining a license when it becomes mandatory. In any event, expanding your knowledge of safe boating practices as well as state and local laws that regulate activities on Lake Lure may prove valuable this summer. The exact time and place are yet to be announced. Please contact the Lake Lure Police Department at 828-628-4685 for further information or to register for a boating safety class.
