Area Internet Service Providers

Over the last year, the Town of Lake Lure and the Utilities Advisory Board have worked collaboratively with area Internet providers to improve and expand Internet services.

Representatives from Pangaea, Point Broadband, and Telrad Networks have made various presentations to the Lake Lure Utilities Advisory Board concerning their intent to create or expand services into Lake Lure as well as other areas of Rutherford County and Polk County.

Part of that effort also included getting feedback from citizens in a comprehensive survey sent out by the Town of Lake Lure regarding Internet usage and access.

Through those presentations and the information collected from the survey,  the Town of Lake Lure agreed to allow Point Broadband to utilize the water tower along North Carolina Highway 9 as a broadband deployment site. The Town, in coordination with Pangaea, is assisting Point Broadband in identifying two additional broadcast locations as well.

As a result of these efforts, Point Broadband has announced that it is prepared to sign up new customers in Lake Lure.
