Marine Commission

The Lake Lure Marine Commission was established in 2003 under authorization of the North Carolina state legislature to make regulations applicable to Lake Lure and its shoreline area concerning all matters relating to or affecting the use of Lake Lure.

Members of the Marine Commission are the Lake Lure Town Council

It is the intent of the marine commission to enact regulations applicable to Lake Lure that:

Supplement the boating laws and regulations enacted or adopted by the North Carolina and/or South Carolina General Assemblies and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission and South Carolina Department of Natural Resources; and

  • Promote safe boating on Lake Lure
  • Enhance the knowledge and practice of water safety and promote careful vessel operation
  • Facilitate the prompt and accurate identification of the boating public

The Marine Commission has four regularly scheduled meetings per year that are held on the same date as a town council meeting.
