Nov. 19 Update Two from the NC Forest Service

Party Rock Fire Lines Have Held Thus Far

Nov. 19 - Despite strong winds since mid-morning today, the containment lines on the Party Rock Fire have held firm across the fire footprint, according to fire managers.

However, the threat has not passed as strong northwest winds are expected until early morning and a Red Flag Warning remains in effect until midnight. Fire fighters will be monitoring and patrolling the fire lines
all night. As of 8:10 p.m., there is no change in any current evacuation notices.

The wind has fanned some lingering areas of smoldering fuel inside the fire perimeter and small flames may be visible through the night in places. Those hot spots are being monitored by fire personnel and will be addressed if the flames pose any threat to public safety or the
containment lines.

Because of increased public concern, the fire information center will remain open through the night. The center phone numbers are 828-513-2500 or 336-455-9641. Emails to are also being monitored.
