Nov. 8 Party Rock Fire Update

Nov. 8, 2016, Lake Lure, NC: The fire and smoke seen on or near Boys Camp Road last night (Nov.7th) and this morning have been intentional. "Fighting fire with fire." This is to continue to establish strong containment lines.
Please be cautious if you must travel on Boys Camp Road.

The smell and sight of smoke here are very thick. Visibility in some areas is less than ideal. As of yet, no evacuation orders have been issued.

Helicopters are continuing water drops today.

Only a handful of residents in the Quail Ridge and Huntington Road area of Rumbling Bald Resort have been alerted to the possibility of an evacuation.

Also, we have been asked by some residents here how they can help our firefighters. The fire chief tells us that people have already been dropping off food and water to the Lake Lure Fire Department. Thank you so much!

Additionally, the local auxiliary group to the fire departments and the Forestry Service are making sure folks are fed.

This fire and subsequent smoke are likely to go on for a few days.

If you want to help in the way of food and water, you may wish to check back in this weekend.

Lastly, we've also been asked about how folks can make a monetary donation. We'll get that information up on the Town's website later today.
