Nov. 8, 2016 Lake Lure: Update on the forest fire at Party Rock

Evacuations have now been ordered for the Quail Ridge area and Huntington Road area of Rumbling Bald Resort

Our local emergency services personnel has now begun limited evacuations of the Quail Ridge area and Huntington Road areas of Rumbling Bald Resort. Emergency personnel are now going to these areas door to door to evacuate residents.

Affected Roads are:

Blue Bird Rd, Raptor Ct, Bold Rd, Bold Ct, Knob Ln, Bald Mtn Crescent, Glade Ct, Swallow Ln, Big Rock Ln, Cardinal Rd, Crow Rd, Ravenwoods Ct, Hummingbird Ct., Thrush Ct, Highlands Rd.

If contacted, please be ready to vacate your home immediately. Currently, this will impact between 25-35 homes.  

Temporary housing for evacuees will be arranged through Rumbling Bald Resort by calling 828.694.3046.

Other updates:

Tonight's town council meeting has been canceled as have any other meetings that may have reserved the Community Center's conference room. The NC Forestry Service will be locating its logistical and operational functions to Town Hall.

Therefore, please consider rescheduling all unessential business you may have had at Lake Lure Town Hall until after the Lake Lure Forest Fire is under control. 

Food and water donations:
There have been several impromptu locations established for collecting food and water. These include:

Lake Lure Fire Department
Lake Lure Town Hall
Ingles
Lake Lure Classical Academy
Lake Lure Coffee (across from the public beach)

Lake access is restricted until further notice:

Due to outdoor conditions and general health hazards, the lake is closed to public access and all commercial businesses on the lake have been asked to suspend business until further notice.
