The town clerk reports directly to the town manager.   She is responsible for giving public notices, preparing the town council agenda, recording town council minutes, serving as custodian of all permanent town records, keeping the town seal, attesting all town documents, updating the code of ordinances, keeping records of appointments and terms of the various boards and commissions and issuing special event permits.

One of the most important services that the clerk provides to the town council is assistance with preparations for meetings, including preparing the agenda and compiling background information for the council's agenda packet.   The town council may also assign research projects to the clerk or request general assistance on other matters.

The town clerk is the custodian of the corporate seal of the Town of Lake Lure and is the officer authorized to use and authenticate the seal.   The town clerk often serves as liaison between the public, town manager and governing body.   The town clerk attends all meetings of the town council and other committees and boards.

The town clerk’s office is located in the Municipal Center/Town Hall.   Office hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
