Trash & Recycling Info

Residential Trash Pickup:
The Town of Lake Lure provides weekly curbside sanitation services to town residents through its contract with Wade Nelon & Sons. Pickup is currently on Mondays.

To keep this service operating smoothly, please remember the following:

  • Provide and maintain your own trash containers  A maximum of three, 32 gallon trash containers are allowed per household
  • Place your trash in leak-proof containers with tight fitting lids
  • Make sure the trash containers are easy to see and easy to access to those who empty your containers
  • Trash must be at the curb no later than 4 am on scheduled pickup days
  • Trash only includes household waste, not recyclables, yard waste, construction debris, furniture or appliances – just trash
Hard Trash pickup by Appointment:

In addition to curbside pickup of household trash, the Town provides – by appointment only - pickup of hard trash, including old household furnishings and bagged leaves on the last Friday of each month.

Call Customer Service at Town Hall to schedule a pickup, 828-625-9983, Ext. 129. Please clearly indicate the items that are to be taken.

Note that pickup of building materials and brush is not a service that the town provides. Consult with the Rutherford County Landfill for a comprehensive list of items that you may dispose of yourself.

Curbside Recycling:

The Town of Lake Lure provides subscriber-based curbside recycling every Wednesday.

For residents and/or property owners, the cost is just $8.50 a month plus the one-time purchase of two bins to sort paper goods from plastic, glass and aluminum.

The program operates on the blue & yellow rule: your blue container will hold glass, plastic and metal while your yellow container will hold mixed paper and boxes.

Businesses should contact one of the area vendors for curbside services and cost.
