No-Wake Buoy Application

No-Wake Sign

No-Wake buoys are placed strategically around Lake Lure to alert boaters to dangers and to serve as reminders of the 75-foot no-wake zone around the lakeshore.  This is particularly the case in areas that are prone to having boats operate too close to the shore or too fast for conditions.  While a buoy can provide an additional measure of protection in front of a property, putting buoys in front of every lot would be prohibitively expensive and would diminish the beauty of the lake.  Thus, the Parks, Recreation, and Lake Department and the Lake Advisory Board carefully consider the placement of each buoy and the requests for new buoys.

You may download the No-Wake Buoy Application.  This application should be submitted to the Parks, Recreation & Lake Department, located at 658 Memorial Highway, Lake Lure, or mailed to Parks, Recreation & Lake Department at P.O. Box 5, Lake Lure NC 28746.

Applications will be reviewed by the Director of the Parks, Recreation, and Lake Department and then taken to the Lake Advisory Board for discussion and a decision.

Appeals of denied buoy applications may be made to the lake Lure Town Council.
