Having an Event in Lake Lure - What to Know

Morse Park

The Town of Lake Lure has several ideal locations and facilities available for rent by citizens and visitors. The amenities, fees, and how-to check availability are listed below. The locations we offer include Community Hall, located within Lake Lure Town Hall, the Lake Lure Pavilion (Gazebo), and Morse Park Meadows. Whether it's a wedding, concert, or festival you want to have in our community, we are delighted that you are considering our community.

Bear in mind that if you plan to hold your event outdoors you will need to apply for an entertainment permit.  Please keep in mind that there are two outdoor spaces available for rent and events could be taking place at both locations simultaneously unless one party rents both locations.

To rent one of our available locations for your event you will also need to get a permit for use.

Depending on the event you are planning, you may also need the following:

  • Site Plan:  Download an aerial view of Morse Park Meadows to develop a site plan for your event, noting the proposed placement for various functions on the photograph.
  • Fabric Structures Permit: Include a listing of the tents you plan to utilize on the Entertainment Event Permit Application. Although you may not have one tent that meets the size requirement, if the total square footage of the tents exceeds this size, this form will be required.
  • Mobile Food Trucks: If your event involves food trucks, include a listing of those you are inviting to participate on the Entertainment Event Permit.  If the mobile food vendors you invite to participate have not already completed this form in the calendar year of the event, they would need to complete this form, in addition to following all County requirements.  The Mobile Food Permit is only required once a year.
  • Suspension of Alcohol Ordinance: This application is required if beer or wine will be offered.  No spirited alcohol is allowed on Town Property.  Note that special approvals are required and that a beer/wine garden must be roped off with a mechanism in place to ensure those who enter the garden are of age.

Community Hall

Available locations for your event:

Lake Lure Community Hall

The views from here are lovely and the park, picnic tables, playground area, and picnic shelters are less than 150 feet away.

Lake Lure Fire Codes limit the capacity to 200 people when using chairs or 93 people when using tables and chairs.

Depending upon availability, the room may be rented during weekdays or weekends and on some holidays, but the availability is typically restricted to the hours of 9 am and 9 pm.

Please note that regularly scheduled town government functions and meetings take first priority when scheduling the use of the Community Hall.

Check the town's community calendar for dates of official town meetings.

The Lake Lure Pavilion is located on the Lake Marina peninsula in Morse Park. Surrounding the Pavilion is a spacious and level grassy area with manicured landscaping facing the lake.

The Pavilion area has a gorgeous view of Chimney Rock Mountains, the public beach, and Washburn Marina.

Specifications, equipment available, and rules for use:

  • Charcoal or gas grilling is not permitted in or around the Pavilion, or along the peninsula leading to the Pavilion. However, charcoal grills are available for public use at the picnic shelters located behind the Welcome Center.
  • The gazebo itself is 35 feet in diameter and the arches are 9 feet, 6 inches high. The height in the middle is 18 feet.

Morse Park Meadows

The meadows cover a large grassy area located beside the Welcome Center at 2926 Memorial Hwy. The rental area is also near but does not include the picnic area, playground, basketball, and tennis courts. Those are for public use only.

With a large paved parking lot, portable restrooms, and plenty of level ground, the meadow is an ideal location for athletic events, reunions,  festivals, boat shows, car shows, tournaments, outdoor concerts, and craft fairs.
