East Entrance to Morse Park Has Reopened with a New Playground!
Morse Park offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and iconic Chimney Rock, making it a scenic and versatile lakeside destination at Lake Lure. Visitors can enjoy a beautifully maintained walking trail, a redeveloped wetland habitat, and easy access to lake recreation, including boat rentals at the neighboring marina.
- Note that Morse Park was severely impacted by Hurricane Helene. The East Entrance near the Lake reopened in May 2025.
- The West entrance (near Town Hall) is also closed for for Lake restoration project. For questions please email //Communications@townoflakelure.com">Communications@townoflakelure.com.
- Town Hall and the meadows are closed until further notice.
With a large paved parking lot, portable restrooms, and plenty of level ground, the meadow will be an ideal location for athletic events, reunions, festivals, boat shows, car shows, tournaments, outdoor concerts and craft fairs.

Fun Facts About Morse Park
Movie Connections: The surrounding area has appeared in major film productions such as Dirty Dancing, The Last of the Mohicans, Firestarter, and A Breed Apart.
Restored Wetlands: Originally created in 2009, the park’s wetland habitat is currently being restored and continues to attract wildlife like wood ducks, frogs, tadpoles, and salamanders. Two new water features will be added for everyone's enjoyment.
Recreational Hub: Morse Park features a level walking trail, open meadows, picnic areas, and a direct connection to the Washburn Marina, which is being rebuilt in the spring of 2026.
Stewardship: The park was named for the Morse family who have supported the area for many years, emphasizing conservation, safety, and community enjoyment.
Unmatched Scenic Views: The park provides some of the best vistas of the historic 1927 Lake Lure Inn, Lake Lure Beach, and Chimney Rock State Park.
