Community Development Director
The Town of Lake Lure is seeking qualified applicants for a Community Development Director. Responsibilities include managerial, administrative, and professional work in planning, organizing, and directing a department responsible for planning, code enforcement, and planned development for the town.
An employee is the class directing the planning, code enforcement, and economic development activities in the town to ensure coordinated guidance and regulation of the orderly growth and development of the town. Work involves conducting studies, performing planning duties, providing administrative guidance to the department, and supervising the staff involved in code enforcement and issuance of permits. The employee is responsible for the overall design of the planning program and for achieving tangible results in the appropriate distribution and diversity of land use and lake use in the town. Work involves extensive public contact and coordination with other departments, boards, and commissions.
The role also includes developing a favorable relationship between the town and the business, development, and commercial community. Sound judgment, initiative, collaboration, and negotiating skills are required. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Town Manager and is evaluated through conferences, review of work results obtained, and management of administrative adherence to the town's plans, programs, and regulations. This position is overtime exempt and the salary range is $71,733-$114,773, based on experience. Benefits include health, dental, vision, life insurance, and a retirement plan.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in city and Regional Planning, Public Administration supplemented with coursework in city and regional planning, or other field of study related to the work performed
Experience: At least 5 or more years of professional-level planning work with a municipal or county government.
