Lake Lure Beach - Best Lake Beach in North Carolina

Despite major damage to Lake Lure that caused the lake to close post-Helene, fans of the area showed their support with votes, landing the Lake Lure Beach at No. 9 on the 2025 list.
As of June 2025, Lake Lure remains closed. A June 6 post on Lake Lure's website provided an update on efforts to remove massive amounts of debris, silt and sedimentation left in the lake by Helene. So far 314,000 tons of silt and sediment and 42,301 cubic yards of waterway debris have been removed, and cleanup crews continue to work 12-hour days seven days a week.
