Lake Lure Cell Tower Update

Cell Tower Update

The Town of Lake Lure has been working to install a cell tower on the old camp ground off Boys Camp Road.  Our Community Development Team has been diligent in their efforts to work through multiple challenges, including delays caused by Hurricane Helene. Thanks to their persistence, we are pleased to report that the cell tower has arrived! You can see the tower here!  The base of the tower was erected Thursday, 12/4/25 as schedule.  The remaining sections are to be erected today, Friday, 12/5/25.

The next steps are for the cell companies to begin mounting their antennas. Then, in January 2026, we should be able to call folks and tell them about it!

Mayor Carol Pritchett added, "The Town of Lake Lure has seen the installation of the cell tower as a critical project for public safety as well as improved access for businesses, residents and visitors. We are very pleased to have been able to work through all of the mandates and requirements in order to ensure the citizens of Lake Lure have better cell service. I would like to thank our Community Development Director Mike Williams for his exceptional oversight of this project.  The new tower will enhance cell and wireless service from the Lake Lure Dam, into Lake Lure and just beyond Chimney Rock. AT&T reports that users will have four to five bars of service indoors, so we are all looking forward to this increased access.”

Additional details:

• Tillman Infrastructure is building the tower and will own it.

• The next step is for AT&T to mount their antennas, then T-Mobile and Verizon will be putting their antennas on next.

• We expect to have improved cell coverage by the first of 2026.
