Lake Lure Lake Level Update

121125 Lake Lure Dam at 977 MSL

The current Lake level is about 975.5 Mean Sea Level (MSL) as of 12/19/25.   The Lake has come up a couple of feet (from 975 MSL) so contractors could get their equipment in for the work at the Lake Lure Dam. 

  • A project has begun to replace the seals on the Tainter gates. 

  • The lake was raised slightly to allow the equipment to be put in place for this project.

  • Now that the equipment is in place, the plan is to maintain this level (975 MSL  +\- 6”) for the completion of the project.

  • The project is projected to be completed in February 2026.

  • Once the project is complete, Town Officials will begin refilling the Lake.

  • Full pond in Lake Lure is 990.5 MSL.
