Lake Lure Lake Level Update - December 11, 2025

121125 Lake Lure Dam at 977 MSL

The current Lake level is about 977 Mean Sea Level (MSL).   The Lake has come up a couple of feet (from 975 MSL) so contractors could get their equipment in for the work at the Lake Lure Dam. 

  • A project has begun to replace the seals on the Tainter gates. 
  • Once the equipment is in place, the plan is to lower the lake again back down to 975 MSL. 
  • Town Officials estimate getting back to about 975 MSL by 12/15/25. 
  • The current plan is to maintain this level (975 MSL) for the completion of the project.
  • The project is projected to be completed in February 2026.
  • Once the project is complete, Town Officials will begin refilling the Lake.
  • Full pond in Lake Lure is 990.5 MSL.
