More Progress at the Washburn Marina

Hot docks in Washburn Marina

The Town of Lake Lure, NC  is pleased to announce that Rutherford County has approved the Hot Docks and Stationary Docks at Washburn Marina for use. While additional improvements are still underway in the marina area, these docks are now open for their intended use.

For the safety of all visitors, please note that swimming is prohibited in the marina area, and fishing from the marina docks is not permitted.  Please note the additional information below.

BOAT LAUNCH INFORMATION

Motorized Boats

  • The Washburn Marina boat ramp is for motorized vessels only.
  • We are working to replace signage in the area.

Non-Motorized Vessels

  • We are pleased to report that the Town of Lake Lure does not require a permit or launch fee for non-motorized vessels.
  • The designated launch for non-motorized vessels is located at Pool Creek Picnic Park, to the right of Lake Lure Beach from Memorial Highway (2724 Memorial Hwy).
  • Looking ahead, the Town is designing a second non-motorized launch on the back side of Morse Park. We'll share updates as that project moves forward.

Hot Docks

  • The hot docks are intended for temporary loading and unloading only.
  • The docks are located to the left of Washburn Marina when facing the lake.
  • Boat passengers may use the pathway leading to the Lake Lure Gazebo to access the docks.
  • The docks are on the right side of the pathway, with the playground on the left.
  • Fencing will be installed around the playground in the near future to enhance safety.

Stationary Docks

  • The Washburn Marina's stationary docks (shown here) are reserved for Lake Lure Tours.
  • Boat tours are temporarily operating from Lake Lure Beach while permanent facilities are being established at the marina.
  • Please stay tuned for updates regarding their operations and check in at the Lake Lure Beach if you are interested in a tour.

Washburn Marina Stationary Docks

Day Slips

  • Day slips are available along H Dock at Washburn Marina.
  • $25 per day with a minimum four-day reservation.
  • To reserve a slip, call Lake Permitting Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:40 p.m., at 828-625-9983, ext. 505.
  • When available and not reserved, H Dock also offers temporary docking for up to 2.5 hours on a first-come, first-served basis.

Courtesy Docks

  • Materials for the Courtesy Docks at Pool Creek Picnic Park have been delivered.
  • Construction is scheduled to begin next week, and we'll continue to provide updates as work progresses.

Fueling Station

  • The marina's new fuel tank has been delivered and set in place.
  • Installation and permitting are now underway, with fueling services anticipated to begin in August. 
  • We will keep you posted as soon as fuel is available for sale.
