Morse Park and Washburn Marina Updates
Morse Park
Rock is currently being strategically placed along the shoreline at Morse Park to stabilize and protect the area. As shown in the photo above, this work will help prevent erosion and preserve the park’s natural beauty.
Crews are also redistributing sediment throughout the park to create a more level and usable green space which minimizes future drainage issues.
Once these improvements are complete, Public Works will begin beautification efforts to enhance the area and expand access so more of the park can be enjoyed by visitors.
The Welcome Center in Morse Park has been removed due to significant damage from Hurricane Helene. Unfortunately, the building was not salvageable.
Please note: Morse Park and the new playground equipment remain open to the public. However, visitors will need to drive around marina dock materials that are temporarily staged in the parking lot.
Washburn Marina
Materials for Washburn Marina have been procured and are currently staged at Morse Park. Dock construction is underway, as shown in the photos.
Installation of the new marina and docks requires the lake to be at full pond. We anticipate the marina will be fully installed and operational by mid-July.

Fueling Station and Boat Ramp
A new fueling station, new docks for tour boats, and the existing boat ramp in Washburn Marina are expected to be ready for use by May 2026.
