Town of Lake Lure Updated Public Response Regarding Second Mountain, LLC

The Town of Lake Lure is providing the following update on the pending litigation with Second Mountain, LLC on 8/31/26 at 1:05 pm.  

The Town extended an offer to settle both pending lawsuits on the exact terms proposed by Mayor Carol Pritchett and Commissioner Jim Proctor during the August 26, 2026, Town Council Work Session and Action Meeting. To date, Second Mountain's legal counsel has not responded to the settlement offer transmitted by the Town's attorney.

While the Town remains committed to resolving this matter, it is also responsible for protecting the interests of its taxpayers. As the Town is defending litigation initiated by Second Mountain LLC, it has made a good-faith effort to resolve both cases through settlement and remains willing to work toward a resolution.
