Relics found in Lake Lure

Following Hurricane Helene's impact on North Carolina, Lake Lure's water level was significantly lowered for repairs, revealing long-lost artifacts. These include a 1920s Model T-style truck and a 32-foot wooden boat, likely used as a water taxi, according to news reports. The boat, named "Pooh Bear," was reportedly owned by a local family and was discovered after breaking loose from its dock during a storm, according to multiple news sources. 

The drawdown also exposed other debris, including furniture and scaffolding from the dam's construction, according to multiple news sources. Lake Lure Dock Company personnel have been actively involved in the cleanup and repair efforts, discovering these items while working on docks and boathouses. The discoveries offer a glimpse into the lake's past, with some items, like the truck, appearing to have been salvaged and abandoned before sinking.
