Lake Lure ~ Lake Level Updates
The Lake Lure lake level is currently about 15 feet below full pond, (975.5 Mean Sewa Level). Town Officials made the decision today to lower the lake level to 974 in anticipation of forecasted precipitation for the area in the coming days.
- The reason for maintaining the lake at this level is for the ongoing work taking place at the Lake Lure Dam to replace the seals on the Tainter gates.
- The Town of Lake Lure is pleased to report that the project is going well and is currently on schedule.
- The project is expected to be completed in February 2026.
- The plan is to maintain the lake at 974 MSL until Monday when another assessment will be made.
Once the project is finalized, Town Officials will begin refilling the Lake. Refilling the lake will depend on the weather. The Town hopes to reopen Lake Lure for the season sometime in May 2026. The date is uncertain at this time. We will provide updates as new information becomes available.
Town officials continue to work to finalize the contract for shoreline debris removal through the SMART Program. Town crews will also make rounds to assistant with debris removal after the lake is back at full pond as they have in the past.
