Winter Storm Preparedness Update from Duke Energy

A significant winter storm is expected to impact the Carolinas this weekend, especially from Saturday afternoon through Sunday. Duke Energy is closely monitoring conditions and preparing crews, equipment, and resources ahead of the storm.

What to know:
• Ice is the biggest threat — as little as ¼ inch can cause outages
• Heavy, wet snow (6+ inches) may also impact power
• Crews are conducting proactive tree trimming and system checks
• Smart, self-healing grid technology helps restore power faster
• Additional crews are ready to be deployed where needed. 

- Hazardous travel conditions may slow response times until roads are cleared, but restoration will begin as soon as it’s safe.
