Busy Day for Lake Lure Fire Department
Lake Lure Firefighters had an especially busy day responding to multiple incidents throughout the community today.
Firefighters assisted Duke Energy crews with numerous downed trees that were blocking roadways. Several trees also fell onto power lines around town, resulting in power outages in throughout the area. Power crews from Duke Energy and REMC are working diligently to restore service and repair downed lines and poles caused by high winds.
In addition, crews responded to and extinguished two separate fires. The first was a woods fire in Chimney Rock State Park, followed by a residential structure fire.

The Lake Lure Fire Department received mutual aid assistance from Chimney Rock Volunteer Fire Department, Bills Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Green Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Sunny View Volunteer Fire Department, the North Carolina Forest Service, and the Rutherford County Fire Marshal’s Office.
Both fires were successfully contained, and we are thankful to report that everyone is safe.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all responding agencies for their teamwork and support, and we thank our community for their patience and cooperation during these incidents.
