Lake Lure Classical Academy Hosts Their First Annual Relay for Life Event
The Lake Lure Classical Academy National Honor Society (NHS) and National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) are proud to announce their first annual Relay for Life event, taking place on May 9th from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on the athletic field behind the school.
This year’s event will feature a unique Renaissance-themed celebration, offering a full day of activities for families and community members of all ages. Attendees can enjoy food trucks, live music, games, face painting, a bouncy house, and more, all while supporting an important cause.
Relay for Life is a community event that raises funds and awareness for the fight against cancer. Lake Lure Classical Academy’s students, staff, and community supporters have already raised over $6,100, demonstrating a strong commitment to making a difference.
This event is about bringing our community together to honor cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost, and support ongoing cancer research. Jolie Long, an 11th grader at LLCA and a member of the National Honor Society, spearheaded the event. She and her fellow NHS and NJHS members have worked together to plan fundraisers and collect donations. The group organized and ran a “Coffee House” fundraiser at Fairfield Mountain Chapel in Rumbling Bald and raised just over $900 for Relay. Lake Lure Classical Academy is incredibly proud of our students for taking the lead in organizing such a meaningful and impactful event.
Notably, this is the only Relay for Life event currently being held in the surrounding area, making it a special opportunity for the community to come together in support of the American Cancer Society’s mission.
