Update 3/28/26 at 12:45 PM

An Update from Lake Lure Fire and Rescue: Memorial Highway will be closed for about another hour or so. Firefighters and Duke Energy crews are working hard to reopen the road.

Fire crews have built containment lines around parts of the fire to help stop the fire from spreading. Bulldozers are also working to strengthen these lines. Conditions are still challenging, with very low humidity (17%), which can make the fire burn more easily.

A Burn Ban is in place inside Town of Lake Lure under the authority of Lake Lure Emergency Services.

Please stay tuned for updates.
