Laying of the Wreath:  Lt. Col. David Wayne Keenan (Ret.)

Lt. Col. David Wayne Keenan (Ret.)

Lt. Col. David Wayne Keenan (Ret.) proudly served in the United States Air Force from May 1978 to October 1998. During his distinguished 20-year military career, he flew KC-135 aircraft as a pilot and had the unique honor of refueling the legendary SR-71 Blackbird. He also served during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

Following his military service, David continued to pursue excellence through education, earning two master’s degrees—one in Industrial Engineering and another in Business Administration. Throughout his life, he has remained deeply committed to service and community involvement, volunteering with his church, the Boy Scouts, and Habitat for Humanity. He also dedicated his time to serving on Lake Lure’s Zoning & Planning Board where he made significant contributions.

David is a devoted husband to Joyce, father of two children, and proud grandfather to two granddaughters. He is    deeply honored to be part of this ceremony and grateful for the opportunity to share in this special occasion.
