A Major Milestone in Lake Lure's Recovery!
We are excited to announce that the Town of Lake Lure has received all required Town and Rutherford County approvals for the newly rebuilt Washburn Marina. The Certificate of Occupancy (CO) was issued this afternoon, and seasonal slip renters may now begin using their boat slips!l All slip renters have been notified via email. This marks another significant step forward in our recovery from Hurricane Helene and brings one of Lake Lure's most important recreational facilities back into service.
What's Open
Washburn Marina Boat Slips
- 208 seasonal boat slips are now available for slip renters.
- 6 daily rental slips are available (4-day minimum rental).
Lake Lure Tours
- The marina's stationary docks and tour boat slips are not quite ready for Lake Lure Tours operations but stay tuned for updates on this very soon.
Floating Boardwalk
- The public floating boardwalk will officially reopen on Thursday, July 16, 2026.
Hot Docks
- Temporary loading and unloading docks will open very soon. Cleats are being added and an inspection will be conducted this week. These are located to the left of Washburn Marina as you enter from the parking lot.
Day Slips/Courtesy Docks
- Six complimentary day slips are available for up to 2.5 hours on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Note that materials have been delivered for the Pool Creek Picnic Park Courtesy Docks.
- Building these docks will commence next week so please stay tuned for updates on this project.
Fueling Station
- The new fuel tank was delivered this week. Installation and permitting of the fueling system are now underway, with fueling services anticipated to be available by the end of July. Please stay tuned for updates as progress is made.
This project represents countless hours of planning, coordination, and construction over the past many months. We extend our sincere appreciation to FEMA, our contractors, Duke Energy, Rutherford County, Town staff, and everyone who helped make this milestone possible.
