FEMA Leadership Visits Lake Lure to Discuss Recovery and the Path Forward

Lake Lure welcomed senior Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) leadership for a visit to the Town to review ongoing recovery efforts and discuss projects that remain unfunded.

FEMA Administrator Cameron Hamilton, Robert Ashe, Regional Administrator for FEMA Region 4 - which covers North Carolina and other southeastern states, Jordan Rink, Director of the Joint Recovery Office, NC - Region 4, their staff, and Evan Smith, Community Liaison for Rutherford & Henderson County met with Mayor Carol Pritchett, Commissioner Dave DiOrio, Town Manager Olivia Stewman, and Emergency Services Director Dustin Waycaster for a tour of Lake Lure.

The visit provided an opportunity for Town leaders to highlight the significant progress Lake Lure has made in its recovery while also discussing the critical projects that remain to be funded.

The FEMA team remarked on the beauty of Lake Lure, noting that it is “one of the most gorgeous areas in the country.” The visit was very encouraging, with FEMA leadership expressing a willingness to work with the Town to help bring resolution to the remaining pending projects.

Lake Lure appreciates FEMA’s continued attention to the Town and looks forward to working together to advance the projects that are essential to the community’s continued recovery and resilience.
