V. Unfinished Business
There was no unfinished business.
VI. New Business
1. Advisory Board Updates: Commissioner Dave DiOrio provided an update on Lake Advisory Board activities.
- The Town is recruiting for a Lake Operations Officer and we hope to fill the position soon.
- There are two internal candidates.
- In the meantime, Police Officers are providing coverage on each shift.
- The primary issues are enforcing boat permits and reminding non-motorized users to stay within 75-foot area noted.
- Residential motorized permits are below the typical year's numbers (714 vs. 800-900 in previous years) due to marina closures.
- Commercial permits are steady and near the annual cap (77 of 80)
- Non-resident permits are low so far this year (25 of 100) due to lack of marina slips.
- New livery boat permits are under scrutiny for unanticipated commercial use.
- The Lake Advisory Board will be reviewing Lake Regulations this fall to make recommendations for updates in the new year.
- There was a clarification discussed that Phase Two Lake Reopening does not restrict swimming but swimming is not allowed in Pool Creek Picnic Park.
- There seems to be some misinformation that needs to be addressed regarding where swimming is permitted.
- A suggestion was made to create infographic/map for allowed swimming areas.
2. Review Lake Advisory Board Recommendation for Non-motorized Boat Ramp location
- There was a discussion on the design and location of non-motorized ramps to reduce congestion.
- There is a preference for a downstream location near the former ramp site with parking but we need to be careful to avoid interference with Town Hall parking and we need to preserve the river aesthetics.
- The Town is working with architect Vic Knight on a conceptual design and engineered drawings will be forthcoming.
- There was consensus to use berms and landscaping to shield parking from river view.
- It was noted that the wider river section behind Town Hall is favorable for kayaking access and fishing.
VII. Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned.
