Town Council Special Meeting Summary - June 16, 2025

Thank you to all who joined us for the Town of Lake Lure Special Meeting on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. 

The meeting was held at the Lake Lure Fire Department, 622 Memorial Highway, Lake Lure, NC 28746. 

The public was invited to attend the meeting. 

A meeting summary is posted below for those who could not attend.  Note that these are not formal minutes which will be included in the following month's meeting packet.

I.  Call to Order

Mayor Carol Pritchett called meeting to order.

II. Consider Approval of Proposed Lease for Temporary Town Hall/ Police Department at The Landings

Town Manager Stewman presented to council a lease for The Landings.

• This is a temporary location for Town Hall and Police Department.
• It is a month to month lease for $15,000 a month which includes utilities and taxes.
• The Town may be able to justify paying $10,000 a month from FEMA reimbursements.
• This would leave $5,000 per month that the Town is responsible for, which is about the same rent that is being paid for the space at the Arcade Building. 
• The lease will begin on July 1, 2025.
• ADNS will do a walk through prior to the move to assess the IT needs.
• A temporary sign will be put in placed. 
• There was a brief discussion and the lease was approved.

III. Consider Approval of Amendment 2 to Task 23B-Sewer Replacement MH 34 to 32 (now 35B)

Ms. Stewman presented to the council adjusting the cost to Task 23B.

• The cost increase is due to additional sewer repairs and efforts locating the sewer lines.
• This amount is for $67,000.
• There was a brief discussion and the amendment was approved.
