Buffalo Creek Park - Partial Reopening
We look forward to welcoming you back to enjoy the trails!
The Town of Lake Lure is excited to announce a partial reopening of Buffalo Creek Park and the Weed Patch Mountain Trails!
After extensive trail work and improvements, several sections are now cleared and ready for public use. We sincerely thank the many volunteers who contributed countless hours of strenuous effort to help make this reopening possible. Your dedication and hard work are deeply appreciated.
Now Open (effective March 19, 2026):
1) Right fork of the Buffalo Creek Park Trail to its connection with the Weed Patch Mountain Trail
2) Weed Patch Mountain Trail from the Buffalo Creek Park loop to the Gray Rock overlook
3) Upper Boulders Trail
A newly updated trail map is available showing all reopened sections. You may download the map here.
Please note that other areas remain closed as work continues. For your safety, stay on marked open trails and follow all posted signage.
We look forward to welcoming you back to enjoy the trails!
