Boat Permit Application
2026 Lake Lure Boat Permits will be available for purchase beginning January 12, 2026.

Boat Permits are not required for personal non-motorized vessels.

Note that owners of vacation rentals must obtain a commercial boat permit for any non-motorized vessels made available to renters or with a rental livery, as these uses fall under commercial activity.
The process for purchasing the permit has been updated, so please note the following information.

If your boat was permitted in 2024, an attestation of the accuracy and continued coverage & registration is all that will be needed to purchase a 2026 Lake Lure Boat Permit.

For boats that were not permitted in the previous year of use (2024 due to Hurricane Helene), an application will be needed along with the required documentation listed below.

(Boaters Licenses can be issued by all permitting agents/locations.) (Motorized boats only).
The emailed notification of the passed test will also be accepted as a boater license.
A LAKE LURE BOATER’S LICENSE IS REQUIRED FOR ANYONE OPERATING A MOTORIZED VESSEL ON LAKE LURE
